1. What attracted you to join BonCode, and what keeps you motivated to stay?
Initially I was looking for a job as a software developer because I wanted to gain experience with more complex problems than I had originally worked on. At BonCode I quickly got the opportunity to help do technical analysis for software quality assessments, which I really liked doing. I find it very interesting to see how others have solved complex problems, as I could face similar problems in my own work as a software developer. At BonCode I get to have a big say in how things end up being developed as features, and I am free to propose new things as well. BonCode offers what I would describe as learning on the job, where if you would like to try to become better at presenting, we will find an opportunity to do so.

2. Can you describe a recent project or challenge that you really enjoyed working on?
I worked on a complex software due diligence in an acquisition process. In this DD we got to interview many development teams on the software they had developed. It required understanding the domain, but also if and why the different organizations in the acquisition had added value. At the end of it when we delivered our final report, I really felt that our work was worth every penny, which is really fulfilling.

3. How would you describe the company culture here?
Open and transparent. We’re a small company and so it is necessary to openly discuss many things. However, we also depend on individuals taking responsibility. So, I would say it is a lot easier at a smaller company to get opportunities to grow.

4. What opportunities for growth and development have you experienced since joining?
As stated in the previous question; the company greatly benefits from personal development of its employees. Mainly because we depend on individual work more than larger companies. I’ve been able to improve my soft skill by doing presentations at customers presenting our findings. With regard to software development, I’ve also been able to improve by just doing harder tasks and getting feedback from the team.

5. How does BonCode support work-life balance, and what does that mean for you personally?
I don’t think I’ve had a week that was the same since I started working at BonCode in 2018. Some days we have meetings with customers or with software suppliers and talk about the software they’ve developed. Some days we work in office and some days we work from home. At the time of writing this we usually work from home on Thursdays and Fridays. There is always room to discuss alternatives for working from home.
